Free Resources for Your YouTube Channel

1. For Thumbnail

As you know, the thumbnail is one of the most important things after your video. As big YouTubers say that one should spend equal time over creating a thumbnail as that for a video.

Hence having some good resources for your thumbnail will prove to be a lifesaver for you.

Here I am recommending the two best free resources for creating your thumbnail.

Canva is one of my favorite tools/resources. It provides the easiest and the best way to create attractive banners of your choice. You can create YouTube banners, social media posts, video templates, etc just by this online tool. The best thing about Canva is that you got pre-built banner templates, so if you are just starting out and don’t know much about graphic designing you need not worry then too.

Though some creators may say that Canva is for amateur, I disagree with that point as if you got the good knowledge of this tool and know how to utilizes other resources for Canva, you can create any type of awesome-looking banner. The advice is to utilize photoshop, illustrator, and Canva, it will save a lot of time and you will get the desired results. You can also buy it’s premium to unlock more features, which are really awesome.

Hence I consider Canva as one of the best free YouTube tools to utilize and you should consider it too.

Freepik is the best resource for free illustrator/vector templates, stock images. If you know how to work on illustrators with vectors, this resource can be your gold mine. As you know creating vectors on your own can be a bit heavy and time taking the task, this is where Freepik comes into play.

If you have Freepik you need not worry about starting a creative from scratch, just download the template from here, and with some modifications, your creative is ready to go. And believe me, you will thank me after you utilize this resource for creating your YT thumbnail.

2. Stock Images

If you have worked on videos you had surely felt the need for good stock images, and I fully understand that pain point. Shutterstock is too costly for an ordinary creator or for the creators who are just starting out. Hence I had listed the great stock image resources below for you.

One of my favorite platform for finding out great images or walls. It got a large no of categories, hence you will probably find all types of images here. All the images listed here are free to use, either for personal or commercial purposes. The great thing about Pixibay is that you need not worry about providing credit/attribution for utilizing their images.

Literally, Pixabay is one of the best alternative to Shutterstock.

Unsplash and Pixabay go hand in hand. If you don’t find and stock image of your choice on Pixabay you will definitely find it on Unsplash. The great thing about Unsplash is that it is having a large amount of portrait size images listed.

Unsplash gets over 2 million free high-resolution images and all those are completely free to use.

It is always good to have multiple sources for stock images and that’s why I am recommending another stock image website. One cool thing about this website is that it will not only help you with great images but also stock videos. This is what makes Pexels all in one platform to find great resources for YouTubers.

You can modify Pexels images as you want and can utilize it in any type of project without giving attribution. (But hey it is good to give credit to creators, right?)

Stocksnap.io is very much similar to Unsplash and it is good to have such a website added in your bookmark list. This website is one of the best places to find out high-quality images. The main USP of this website is its lifestyle-related images which seem too natural and real.

3. Stock Videos

Whether you are making a How-to video or vlog or entertainment or any such, it’s always good to utilize stock videos clip in your video track. It really adds professionalism and enhances the overall user experience. Or if you don’t want to show your face in the upload, stock videos are your way to go.

Now the question comes where to find these perfect looking stock videos. Though you can find these great footage on Distill and Shutterstock, but as they are premium, here I am going to list two websites where you can get free clips without giving any attribution.

ISO Republic

ISO Republic is my first recommendation, this website got some really cool footages which you can directly utilize in your project. The length of these videos can vary somewhere between 0.5 to 50 seconds.

All the videos listed here are of high quality and there are multiple categories to choose from.

So what are you waiting for, just utilize these free clips and make you YT videos snappy.

Here comes another stock video website, as already said, it’s good to have alternatives. It’s good to have both the ISO Republic and Videvo. If you didn’t find any clip of your choice on ISO Republic you can linger around here on Videvo too.

On Videvo you will find full HD and well as 4K videos too for free of cost. It has clips in lots of different categories, even motion graphics one too. The awesome thing about this website is that you can also find some good royalty-free stock music tracks. But if you are looking for a dedicated stock music resource, our next section will cover the same.

4. Stock Music

Having a good track silently playing in the background can make your video sounds really cool and worth watching. It had been seen that having background music, increases video retention time. Also if you are not having a good mic or you didn’t like your voice much (although you are not making the video for your own) stock music is your way to go.

Stock audio also helps you with your intro and outro and there are many other different ways you can utilize the music. Hence here I am going to list some of the good websites to relly on for your audio projects.

Of Course my first choice, due to its wide variety of music tracks depending on your taste. It got Electronics, Pop, Jazz, Rock, Acoustic tracks, and much more.

Although all the music tracks listed here are free to use, but you have to provide credit to Bensound and I think there is nothing corns with that.

Purpel Planet

Another great website with a wide range of varieties to choose for a great stock audio tracks. Surely you will get overwhelmed after looking at its categories as they are a lot.  But keep in mind that you have to credit https://www.purple-planet.com for using their music, which is again worth doing for such great audio tracks.

This is off topic but I personally like this website wall, which enhances the user experience for this website.

Whatfunk got a huge no of stock audio under creative commons license. Here also you will get a wide list of Soundcloud uploaded music to choose from.

YT Audio Library

It’s cool to know that there are many YouTube channels too which are dedicated for creators only. These channels got a great no of CC audio tracks for you to use in your YT projects.

One of my favorite channels is ‘Audio Library — Music for content creators’. With over 3.42 million subs and 1932 audio tracks, this channel is the creator’s first choice.

Although all of their stock audios are free to use but you must read their terms and conditions related to their audio usages in their channel about section.

5. Templates

Sometimes it’s handy to utilize video templates in your videos instead of creating it from the scratch or if you are a beginner, this is your way to go. Also if you want to add social media motion graphics (call-outs) or want that subscribe button to popup in a style, you should definitely look for the resources which provide such awesome templates.

There are many websites that provide these Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects templates but they come at a price. Hence below I am listing two websites, where you can get all types of video templates for free and thus no need for you to break your bank.

This website got good no of free templates to use along with the premium one.

It contains many different templates of:

  • After Effects
  • Photoshop
  • Sony Vegas
  • Cinema 4D
  • Blender
  • Avee Player

At Velosofy you can get video Intros, Outros, Banners, and not only these, but you can also get free wallpapers, pre-built thumbnail, etc.

Although Velosofy’s free template resources are lean towards gaming channels, but hey you always have the option of customizing it accordingly.

If you are looking for a completely free website then mixkit.co is for you. The thing which makes this website great for creators is that it’s a one-stop solution for free video templates, stock music, and videos. Isn’t it sounds good.

This website is a gold mine for Premiere Pro users and there are lots of video templates dedicated to Premiere Pro users, like that of mine.

Here you can find cool intros, outros, and even transactions to utilize in your project. Talking about its stock audios, they are really awesome, I had personally used it in my own projects.

So without a further delay bookmark this website now!

6. SEO Research

To rock on YouTube you not only need good video/quality content but also a good ranking and marketing strategy. As YouTube is becoming competitive day by day, it’s becoming very difficult to rank organically. This is where having an SEO strategy may help you to get your video coming in YouTube searches, which can directly boost your video views by 50%.

You not need to worry about getting into SEO technicalities, YouTube SEO is pretty simple and easy to apply. If you use my recommended tools below, this all can be as simple as eating a piece of cake for you.

VidIQ is a Google Chrome extension, hence you need to have a chrome browser for it (although such famous extensions are also available for Firefox).

It’s the best free tool for YouTube. For quick introduction if this tool:

  • This extension helps you to understand which keyword have what level of difficulty on YT.
  • Will show you the views and search volume for that keyword.
  • Show you the top alternate keywords.
  • Help you with the video tags.
  • Help you to optimize your video for SEO by suggesting many points.
  • Shows your video quality score and SEO score, so that you can judge.

Talking about how to use it, here I will describe to you in brief but in the coming future, I will publish an article and upload a video over YouTube SEO.

So to use it, just search your keyword in the YT search box, for that keyword you will get insights about its difficulty, search volume, etc. Just look for the keyword which got low difficulty (VidIQ will show you the green sign) and good search volume.

Regarding the use of this tool for video optimization, this tool will suggest the tags, so use those. It will also recommend you some points for improving your SEO score, just follow those.

If you want to learn more about SEO check out our blog over, WHAT IS SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION?

Ubersuggest / SEMrush

You have your keyword for YouTube but what if your video shows up directly on Google searches, for that you have to think broadly and search for the keywords for which your video can be ranked on Google too.

VidIQ is no doubt a great tool but it is more focused on YouTube and much better for SEO optimization, not keyword research. For proper keyword research, you need a proper SEO tool. Which is why I am suggesting Ubersuggest and SEMrush.

Both of these are great SEO tools, although they are not completely free, but it will make your work done. These tools provide you to search your keyword a couple of times before asking for a premium and as for YouTube we don’t need a lot of keywords to search for but if you have the money to spend, I will suggest you to go for SEMrush as it is a great SEO tool.

Here. just search for the keyword, look for its competition and search volume in your country. Go for the keywords which got less than 0.3 or 30% keyword difficulty score and utilize those keywords in your YT title, description, and tags, that’s it.
